Multiple interview process. Starts with chatting with upper management, then turning in a report analyzing their content and what you bring to the table, then more interviews with senior producers. All to see if a good fit.

Software Engineer Interview

Application

I applied online.   The process took 4 weeks.   I interviewed at BuzzFeed in Sep 2022

Interview

CHILDISH AND UPROFESSIONAL. Applied online on the Buzzfeed website. Three weeks later the recruiter contacted me and set up an interview for a week later. There was confusion over the time; I logged in late, and we did not connect. I accepted the blame and apologized. The recruiter offered to reschedule the next day. I logged in *early* to ensure I was on time. The recruiter never showed/let me into the video conference, and within 10 minutes of the start time I received a "Sorry, we're not moving forward message." Clearly, he had no intention of holding the interview.

Interview

Two different recruiters reached out to me for the same role, which is typically unusual. Once I made a confirmed scheduled time with the first recruiter, I let the second recruiter know. However the first recruiter never called me and never responded to me when I asked if we were still talking that day. So then I scheduled a time to speak with the second recruiter, and we both confirmed the day before. Then when the time comes when we were supposed to talk, she also never called me without an explanation. This has never happened to me in my history of recruiter screenings, which has been a lot. Yes, I understand if something came up or the job opening changed, but not saying anything to the applicant after missing a scheduled, confirmed time to speak (twice!) was extremely off-putting. I had to take time out of my work schedule for both meetings, and they were inconsiderate enough to not even tell me why they missed the meeting. I will never apply to Buzzfeed again after such an unprofessional and rude experience I had with the recruiters.

Interview

Extremely long interview process that dragged on multiple months. Ended up meeting with almost 20 people and was given very specific and odd tasks for homework before next interviews. Didn't take the job in the end because the process went on so long and I found another.

Recruitment Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate

Application

I applied online.   The process took 2 days.   I interviewed at BuzzFeed

Interview

I Applied and was contacted by email for a phone interview. Scheduled it thru an online system, and set up a time. The recruiter tries to change the time twice and then didn't show up for the Google Meet, so I had to call. They hung up on me and called me back, and we had an interview, which was weird. Then five hours later, get another email asking me to do a second interview the next day. Schedule that, but never get a confirmation. Had to email the next day asking if we were still on, the recruiter claims they sent it but never did until I asked. I did this next interview where I was told they demand a lot and expect people to know everything, and then tells me I would be a great fit and kept a very close eye on my email. Well, it's been a month with absolutely no follow-up, not even a rejection email, and it was taken off the website.

Human Resources Business Partner (Complex) Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate

Application

I applied online.   The process took 3 weeks.   I interviewed at BuzzFeed in Jul 2022

Interview

Recruiter phone screen, hiring manager video call, interview with two stakeholders of the client groups this HR Business Partner would support... do not know what the next steps would have been as the recruiter ghosted me after following up with her twice on the status of my candidacy. I find this extremely disrespectful, waste of a candidate's time, and unprofessional.
